[7024] 1 – (2772) Zaid bin Arqam said: "We set out on a journey with the Messenger of Allah , and the people encountered hardship. 'Abdullâh bin Ubayy said to his companions: 'Spend not on those who are with Allah's Messenger, until they desert him.' And he ('Abdullâh bin Ubayy) said: 'If we return to Al-Madinah, indeed the more honourable will expel therefrom the meaner.' "I went to the Messenger of Allah and told him about that, and he sent for 'Abdullâh bin Ubayy and asked him about that. 'Abdullâh swore a vehement oath saying that he had not said that, and he said: 'Zaid is lying to the Messenger of Allah I was very upset about what they said, until Allah revealed confirming what I had said: 'When the hypocrites come to you…'111 "Then the Messenger of Allah summoned them so that he could pray for forgiveness for A1-Munâfiq6n 63:1. Hypocrites, their Attributes 174 LaJ êtis them, but they turned their heads away. And His Words: '…They :J are as blocks of wood propped .J up…' 1' And they were rather good-looking men."
