[5366] 177 – ( … ) It was narrated that 'Abdur-Rahmân bin AbI Bakr said: "Some guests came to stay with us and my father used to go and talk to the Messenger of Allah iht at night. He set out and said: '0 'Abdur- Rahmân, serve food to the guests.' When evening came, we brought food to them but they refused to eat and said: 'Not until the head of the household comes and eats with us.' I said to them: 'He is a strict man and if you do not do it, I am afraid that I will be in trouble with him.' But they :JU refused. When he came, the first thing he did was to ask: 'Did you serve your guests?' They said: 'No, by Allah, we did not.' He said: 'Did I not tell 'Abdur- :JW Jj Rahmân (to do that)?' I hid from him, and he said: '0 'Abdur- Rahmân!' I hid from him, but he said: '0 ignorant lad, I adjure you, if you can hear my voice, to come here.' So I came and I said: 'By Allah, it is no fault of mine. ! :Ji :J They are your guests, ask them. I brought them some food but they :JU refused to eat until you come.' L4 :LLi :J He said: 'What is the matter with you? Will you not accept our i4 hospitality?' Abü Bakr said: 'By Allah, I will not eat tonight.' :JUi :JU SI They said: 'By Allah, we will not :3Lai eat until you eat.' He said: 'I have never seen a worse night i :Ji i than tonight. Woe to you, what is the matter with you? Why do you 3U. :Ji not accept our hospitality?' Then !Q i2 LU he said: 'What I did at first was from the Shaifân. Bring the food.' So the food was brought, and he said the Name of Allah and ate, and they ate. When morning :JG came he went to the Prophet and said: '0 Messenger of Allah, :J ui up 6-0 LZJi:J they fulfilled their oath but I broke mine.' He said: 'Rather you are the most sincere of them :JU and you are the best of them." • i:i :JU He said: "And I did not hear of any expiation." Chapter 33.
