Sahih Muslim Hadith 2642 – Fasting On The

[2642] 117 – (1126) 'Abdullâh bin 'Umar [may Allah be pleased with them] narrated that the people of the Jâhiliyyah used to fast on the day of 'As/u2râ', and the Messenger of Allah and the Muslims fasted it before (fasting during) Ramaân was made obligatory. When the month of Ramadân was made obligatory, the Messenger of Allah said:" 'Ashârâ' is one of the days of Allah, so whoever wishes may fast it and whoever wishes may leave it."
