[4086] 99 – (1594) It was narrated that Abü Nadrah said: "I asked Ibn 'Abbâs about exchanging. He said: 'Is it hand to hand?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'There is nothing wrong with it.' I told Abü Sa'eed: 'I asked Ibn 'Abbâs about exchanging. He said: "Is it hand to hand?" I said: "Yes. "He said: "There is nothing wrong with it." He said: 'Did he say that? We will write to him and tell him not to give that ruling.' He said: 'By Allah, one of the slaves of the Messenger of Allah ç brought some dates and he found them odd and said: "It seems that these are not the dates of our land." He said: "Something happened to the dates of our land" – or "our dates" – "this year, so I took this and I gave more in return." He said: "If you gave something more, you engaged in Ribâ. Do not do it again. If you think there is something wrong with your dates, sell them then buy whatever dates you want."
