[2743] 193 – ( … ) 'Abdullâh bin 'Amr said: "The Messenger of Allah said to me: '0 'Abdullâh bin 'Amr, I have heard that you fast all day and pray all night. Do not do that, for your body is entitled to a share from you, your eye is entitled to a share from you, and your wife is entitled to a share from you. Fast and break the fast, fast three days of every month, for that is like fasting for a lifetime.' I said: '0 Messenger of Allah, I have the strength.' He said: 'Then observe the fast of Dâwüd, – -, fast one day and not the next." And he ('Abdullâh bin 'Amr) used to say: "Would that I had accepted the concession." Chapter 36.
